Christ Church Manchester News - 16th March 2011
Tim Simmonds
Well I have been properly slack about updating CCM News lately. I have a wide variety of excuses but I think we can all agree that somehow the lack of emails is due to Colins puppy. Don't ask me why this has happened but since that pesky pup has arrived the emails have dried up.
Anyhoo, I got some news for you -
CCM:LIVE is happening the 21st to the 27th of March. It’s a mission week that CCM is hosting whilst partnering with Oasis Charity, Eden Gorton and a band called Liberty. The hope is that we connect, build relationships and practically help the local community of Gorton. We are asking you to spare the time to come and get involved in any or all activities found in the program. Contact Pippa Webster on at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
On Sunday 27th March a gentlemen called Phil Whittall will be coming to preach. He leads a Newfrontiers church in Shrewsbury and is soon going to plant a church in Stockholm.
CCM:Academy
The next academy is at Luther King House on March 26th. If you are planning to attend please email Colin - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Prayer Meeting
Friday April 1st at Trinity Baptist in Gorton. We will have two sessions - 730pm -9:30pm then 10pm - 12midnight. It would be sweet if you could be at one of those sessions at least.
Undoubtedly I have forgotten something. Who knows what but I definitley have. If you remember something that I should have put down please remember that it is the fault of Colins puppy (who’s name I cannot remember).
Christ Church Manchester News - 16th November 2010

Here are few pieces on news for you. Please read and digest.
On Sunday I was meant to bring info regarding the church picnic, but I forgot. Soooooooo we shall delay this picnic/party by one week until the 28th Nov. This is my fault and I am Sorry.
CURRY - On the 19th November (this Friday) we shall go to the Indian Ocean in Ashton and we shall eat all there food. The only rule is that you have to be a DUDE to consume this curry. Apologies to all Dudettes out there. So if you like curry and are a dude then text or call Seamus O’Brien on 07796696285 or email me.
Venue - As we announced on Sunday we shall be using a couple of different venues over December due to a pantomime in Hyde Town Hall (rumors that Colin is playing one of the Ugly Sisters will be confirmed soon). On the 5th and 12th December we shall be meeting at Wright Robinson School in Gorton and on December the 19th and January 2nd we shall meet at the festival hall in Denton. We shall hand out maps on Sunday and we shall call you, text you, email you, carrier pigeon you and send Colin round with flags to do semaphore.
Ipod Battle
Tim Simmonds
After CCM:City we have been going down to Baa Bar in Fallowfield to hang out, have a drink and listen to some open mic. It has been awesome. This Sunday (14th November) we are going to do something a little different.
We are going to battle each other with ipods (or any other MP3 player…... or a cassette walkman if you want). The rules are simple -
Bring a music player of your choice.
All the names will go into a hat and will be pulled out at random and paired off (like the FA Cup draw).
Each pair will then play their favourite songs.
After the two songs are played the crowd will vote for their favourite. The winner goes through to the next round. The loser will weep quietly in the corner.
This will carry on until we get a final. The winner of the final will win a prize (assuming I remember to buy a prize or haven’t eaten it).
Make sense?

Hello CCM Peeps, Long time no blog. I would like to blame this on moving house, and decorating this houses. The wallpaper was so bad it actually made me fell ill. Check out the picture. If the horribleness of that wallpaper doesn't make you want to chuck up then Colin said he will give you £10. Be honest people!
Anyhoo, I have some bits of news for you that involve food. Thats right, food. I love food. I once ate a whole rabbit.
CURRY - On the 19th November we shall go to the Indian Ocean in Ashton and we shall eat all there food. The only rule is that you have to be a DUDE to consume this curry. Apologies to all Dudettes out there. So if you like curry and are a dude then talk to the magnificent Seamus O’Brien or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Sunday Morning Food - We are going to do food again on Sunday morning because I like food. I will be the guy in the corner huddled over a banoffee pie muttering to myself, probably best not to approach me and you definitely should not come between me and the banoffee pie. So, on Sunday 21st November we shall eat, the kids will watch a film (and a few of the adults) and we can hang out. No agenda, no surprise sermon, no sneaky worship time, just hang time.
Right, I am hungry. Where did I put that rabbit?
Christ Church Manchester - 5th October 2010

We are a church on the east side AND in the centre / south of Manchester. We do a lot of stuff here is a far from comprehensive list of all that we do.
Before you read it please remember that we are a church that currently gathers a mere 80 ish people across two meetings on a Sunday
CCM:East - Every other Tuesday Stu and Kirsty Gosling (solid gold legends, although Stu loves AC/DC but we shall let him off that) are gathering a crowd of people to meet, pray, worship and seek God for the east side of Greater Manchester. They have a facebook page. We want to see God break out in very tough part of our City so if you are on the side of the city and want to get involved (why wouldn’t you?) then get in touch with .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 1.
CCM:India - Sue and Clare are tearing up the Subcontinent as we speak. So Christ Church Manchester sends people out on international mission. They have a facebook page. So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 2.
CCM:Gorton - Every Wednesday we gather a group of people in Gorton to eat curry, pray and worship together. This is no ordinary small group (thank goodness, I went to an ordinary small group once and set fire to my shoes just so we could have something interesting to talk about. Fact!*). Gorton is a broken place with high levels of drug abuse, alcoholism, unemployment and a billion other problems so what do we need to do? We need to make sure church thrives there and Jesus is the most well know person in Gorton. They have a facebook page. So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 3.
CCM:Eden - Eden is our Urban youth work that Steve and Liana Roast run. They have recently been joined by the Fleet family and four students from The Messages Genetik programme. Guess what? They have a facebook page. So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 4.
CCM:Youth - We have a youth group. I got stuck in a field with these guys at Newday and I didn’t end hating any of them. I cannot pay them a bigger compliment. You know what? They have a facebook page. So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 5
Pause for breath. Get a cup of tea. Ready?
CCM:City - Every Sunday we run our evening meeting at Luther King House from 6pm. This week I nearly had my ear drums by Kelani’s drumming. We rock hard and God shows up. What more could you ask for? A facebook page? Here you go. Oh and these guys have a blog. So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 6.
CCM:Chapel - The Chapel is the community of CCM:City. The Chapel is CCM:City at play. So we run an Open Mic after every evening meeting so that we can hang out and play music. We plan to run some dubstep nights and I really really want to run a punk night (humor me). The Chapel shares a facebook page with CCM:City. So that is pioneering/groundbreaking/missional/mind-blowing project number 7.
I haven’t mentioned a whole bunch of small groups, the worship team, the set up, the kids work, the worship conference or that loads of you help out at Oasis.
I was once a part of a church that had 700 members. That church did 10% of what CCM does. I am not even joking**.
So if you find yourself praying this week then that lot should keep you going.
