Christ Church Manchester is a hyper local city wide church. This means we want to plant sites of CCM all over the Manchester area that are focussed in on their localities but are caught up in the bigger thing. Our next site plant is in Salford and is being led by Tom and Emma O'Toole. We thought we would do a quick interview with Tom.

What is CCM:Salford

CCM:Salford is the newest site of Christ Church Manchester, at the very baby stages of life but with faith for big things.

What’s with all the new sites? Are CCM trying to take over the world or something?

We like to call ourselves a hyper-local city church. The idea is that we’re meant to be doing more than attract a crowd to a massive centralised location (throw enough at it and anyone can do that). We want to see Greater Manchester transformed by starting stuff in every community, so we can be involved in bringing the life and healing of the gospel to those places.

Is there a need for a new church in Salford?

We want to see every church in Salford and Manchester succeed and we are good friends with many of these churches. However, there are still a huge number of people who don’t know Jesus and do not go to church. So, yes Salford needs more churches!

Give us a brief feel for what CCM:Salford is about…

What we’re about is Jesus. We love him and make no apologies for that. We want to make him known, and so we are on mission. We want his voice to be the loudest and so we let Scripture set the agenda, both for what we do and how we do it. We want to celebrate that he is alive, so we are joyful worshippers and love the presence of his Spirit leading us as we do so.

What’s the plan?

The beta version is launching on September 27th. That will be 4 Tuesday night events at Salford Uni., that will have a feel as similar to a Sunday service as that. This will give people a flavour of what we’re about, raise some profile and, God-willing, expand our core of people.

After that, we’ll assess where we are at and prayerfully proceed accordingly.
